Ilish with Bhorta, Bangladesh

Traditionally, Bangladeshi rice field workers were served their lunch on banana leaf. Seen in this shot is a special dish served at "Bengal Tiger Foods" in Newark, California to celebrate the Bangla new year 1424 (14th April, 2017). The dish includes deep fried hilsa fish with aubergine, an assortment of mashed vegetables in spices, lentil soup and "pati shapta pitha" for dessert.
